Rasul Efendiyev, Director of Project Implementation at the Ministry of Health The people have sexual behavior change in recent years for example after soviet era because we are a Muslim country. There is a change. In recent years we have many TV shows with programs devoted to discussion on sexual health, education, sexual violence and abuse. At same time there are families where parents try to avoid topics that make them uncomfortable especially in rural places in villages, in regions. But through teaching Life Skill Based Education we are reaching those who influence the youth in school age: teachers and parents. In most times parents are coming to lessons and sitting with the pupils. It’s the only lesson in Azerbaijan Republic where parents can come and sit with their kids. We have open dialogue on sensitive issues such as adolescent sexuality, sexual health education, sexual violence and abuse at the school. Now sex education is a part of full Life Skill Based Education. |
